Jewish Community Federation records, 1839-1982 (1901-1979).

Consists of correspondence, trustee and committee minutes and reports, annual reports, surveys, newspaper clippings, publications, research papers, and scrapbooks. The collection is arranged in four series. Series I: Individual's Files, includes material pertaining to members of the Cleveland Jewish community. Series II: Organization and Subject Files, includes material pertaining to the Federation and its antecedents, as well as to local, national, and international organizations with which the Federation was involved; and subjects of concern to the local Jewish community. Series III: Major Reports, includes correspondence, minutes, memos, reports and membership lists assembled by Federation committees. Series IV: Scrapbooks, includes material pertaining to the activities of the Federation and it antecedents, including the Jewish Welfare Fund. Included are numerous surveys, as well as a wide range of material relating to local, national, and international Jewish history. Confidential material has been placed in a separate collection, MS. 4563A.

Bellefaire, a residential treatment center for emotionally disturbed adolescents, is the oldest Jewish social-service agency in Cleveland.
